Pan American Airways Boeing 314 -- Considered the greatest flying boat, each of Pan Am's six B-314s cost $550,000 each.

Coronado -- Larger and more heavily armed than the Catalina PBY, Consolidated's Coronado long-range flying boat bomber had eight .50 caliber machine guns and could carry up to 12,000 lbs. of bombs.

Catalina PBY -- The most famous Navy long-range patrol bomber, reconnaissance and rescue flying boat of WWII. Relatively slow (max. 179 mph), the Catalina had great range, reliability and flexibility.

Pan American Airways Brazilian Clipper -- Delivered in 1934, NC-822M was used in the Latin America runs and later renamed the Columbia Clipper, Scrapped in 1946, it's seen here leaving Miami
